Background
Yim Tin Tsai Pier is located in Sai Kung District and was built in 2000s.
Yim Tin Tsai is a part of the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark with attractions such as UNESCO-awarded old church (Grade 2 historic building) and revitalized saltpans, which are popular and with tourism appeal. As Yim Tin Tsai has been developed as a tourist attraction featuring art, culture, heritage with natural scenery, it is expected the number of visitors to Yim Tin Tsai will continue to increase. The number of berths at Yim Tin Tsai Pier are insufficient to accommodate the visitors during holiday. It is recommended to improve the pier and provide additional pier facilities.
Yim Tin Tsai Pier is near the Yim Tin Tsai Site of Archaeological Interest. The key coral area at Sharp Island and the Kai Lung Wan Fish Culture Zone are also located near the Yim Tin Tsai Pier.
Pier Improvement Status
We have consulted the Traffic and Transport Committee of Sai Kung District Council on 18 September 2025 regarding the proposed project. The Improvement Works at Yim Tin Tsai Pier was scheduled to commence as early as the second half of 2027 for completion in approximately 2 years.
